Congratulations to Future 15 Selectee, Cassandra Cowan
Our mission at CampusRankings is to empower students to make a significant impact in the world. CampusRankings’ Future 15 award recognizing 15 extraordinary Grade 12 students across Canada, who are already well on their way to impacting positive change in their schools, communities, and beyond.
From entrepreneurs to athletes, we have selected an incredible group of students. When selecting these students, we looked at factors such as grades, involvement in extra-curriculars, impact on their school and community, and their entrepreneurial spirit.
This is Cassandra’s Story
Cassandra Cowan’s story of finding her passions, pursuing them wholeheartedly and excelling at them is truly inspiring. After struggling to find her niche her first year of high school, she became determined to find opportunities to learn, grow and connect with others.
In tenth grade, she joined the yearbook committee and made a complete turnaround.
“I feel like this was one of the most life-changing moments for me… I found something I was good at and enjoyed doing,” Cassandra says. Her talent and excitement were noticed, and she was named co-editor in chief.
Encouraged by her success with the yearbook committee, Cassandra was inspired to delve into other challenging opportunities. She lived in France for three months while participating in a cultural exchange. She especially appreciated this experience as it helped her to see the world from a new perspective and learn about new cultures.
Cassandra also became more dedicated to her sport of curling. “It’s amazing how one activity can change your life, after only three years of curling competitively, I can happily say that my team is ranked in the top 10 in the province!” she says. She shares her love of the sport by coaching youth teams and mentoring younger players.
While finding these passions and following them devotedly, Cassandra has been involved in many facets of leadership in her school and community. An honour student, she uses her love of learning and study skills by tutoring her peers. She is involved in the student council, leadership council and serves as a student senator for her school board.
Cassandra is known to strive for greatness in everything that she does, no matter the effort required.
